Conant Juried Craft Show
Saturday, November 14, 2009
Sterling, Massachusetts
9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Hi,

My name is Julie Flannery and I am the president of the Friends of the Conant Public Library in Sterling, Massachusetts. I would like to personally invite you to be one of the juried crafters participating in our Conant Craft Show.

The craft show will be held in the auditorium of the First Church in Sterling, Massachusetts. The town is centrally located from Route 2, I-190, Routes 12 and 140. The church is conveniently located in the town center facing the common. The timing and location for the show will take advantage of the town’s country setting, the fall season and the holiday shoppers looking for wonderful gifts.

The Friends are committed to running a successful show. The show has been well received in the past. The attendance range has been between 300 and 400 people. We plan to stage another successful event this year. The event will be advertised in various print media and online resources. Space will be limited to approximately 24 craft vendors. A café will be set up to provide snacks and a light lunch.

In order to minimize competition among our participants and provide a wide variety of merchandise we will be limiting the number of crafters in specific categories (i.e. knitting, jewelry, etc). We are asking that all participants provide photos of their craft items. We use a rolling jury process. This means that we accept crafters who meet our qualifications on a first come basis. We limit direct competition and will not accept a crafter whose items are similar to those we have already accepted. If you'd like to be guaranteed a spot please returned you application as soon as possible.

Additionally a craft item is to be donated by each crafter for a raffle to support the Friends of the Conant Public Library general fund. We ask that the donated item has a $20 minimum value.

The application form can be returned via mail. If you prefer to apply electronically and send digital photos please email friendsofconant@gmail.com . Since space is limited we encourage you to send your applications in as soon as possible. Please feel free to forward the information about our fair to anyone you know who might be interested in participating.

Each crafter will be supplied with a table and 2 chairs. There are 20 booths of 8’x8’ and 4 smaller spaces of 8’x5’ and the end of each row. The table size for each is 8’x30”. The cost for the larger space is $55. The smaller space is $45. Registration and setup is from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. the day of the show. There is no electricity available for any of the spaces.

I know the Friends are looking forward to a fun and successful day! I hope to see you there! Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.

Best Regards,
Julie Flannery President- Friends of the Conant Public Library

Friends of the Library FAQ

Q. Who are the Friends of the Library?

A. The Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization that supports the Library, its staff and patrons. Members are residents of the surrounding towns who appreciate our Library and care about its future well being.

Q. What do Friends do?

A. Friends raise money through membership dues and various fundraisers in order to purchase equipment and furnishings for the Library, increase the annual book purchase budgets and provide special programs such as the young children's programs

Friends also use the funds to provide passes to the following popular attractions:
  • Roger Williams Zoo (Providence, RI)
  • Children's Discovery Museum (Acton, MA)
  • Davis' Farmland (Sterling, MA)
  • Ecotarium (Worcester, MA)
Q. How do Friends raise needed funds?

A. Friends uses a number of vehicles to raise funds. The most important are membership dues from new and renewal memberships, an annual fundraiser and ongoing book sales.

Q. How can you help?

A. Friends encourages contributing your financial resources through your student, family or business membership as tax dollars are not always sufficient to do everything the Library needs to accomplish. Q. When do the Friends meet?

A. The Friends meet on the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in the lower level of the library. All are welcome to join.
