Summer is on its way! We are now accepting donations from community members and businesses of new toys, craft kits, gift cards, games, and trendy tech to be awarded as prizes in our Youth Summer Reading Program Raffle. Not sure what to donate? Monetary donations are welcomed as well, and library staff will select fun prizes with the funds received! All donations may be dropped off at the Conant Public Library. Join us for a town-wide read of the New York Times best-selling memoir Educated by Tara Westover. Educated is a story of self-invention and the struggles of breaking away from everything you’ve ever known, including those closest to you, in order to find your own way. Copies of the book are available at the library for check out. A discussion will be held at the Sterling Senior Center on Thursday, June 27th at 12:30 pm. There will also be two discussions at the library on Tuesday, July 2nd at 6:30 pm and Thursday, July 25th at 6:30 pm.

A StoryWalk, presented by the Conant Public Library and welcomed by the Sterling Recreation Department, is now on display at the Sterling Greenery Community Park, 36 Muddy Pond Road. This StoryWalk features The Very Impatient Caterpillar by Ross Burach.

We will be offering "Feasting on 15 Minute Meals" with Liz Barbour at the Sterling Senior Center, 36 Muddy Pond Road, on Thursday, June 6th at 6:30 pm. We all want to eat well but our busy schedules often keep us from taking the time to cook healthy meals. Understanding what ingredients to have in your refrigerator, pantry, and freezer is key to whipping up a fast, healthy, and delicious meal. Join chef Liz Barbour to learn how to use your pantry and your local market to create and prepare delicious, healthy meals in 15 minutes. You’ll need lots of tips and tricks to pull off these meals and Liz is excited to teach them to you. Enjoy a cooking demonstration of 2 recipes and samples for all to taste. Registration is required and is limited.

The Parent’s Night Out Book Club will be reading Harmony, an emotional novel of strength, love and family bonds, by Carolyn Parkhurst for the meeting on Tuesday, June 4th at 6:30 pm. Join Clare Vidich for "Meditation: Doing One Thing at a Time" on Saturday, June 1st at 10:30 am. Most of us have had the experience of doing too many things at one time, causing additional stress in our lives; doing one thing at a time is a form of concentration which also helps with single-minded attention. Meditation can help us focus more and be calm and productive while living in the present moment. A short hands-on meditation will be included during the program. Registration is required.

Join us for an all ages, imaginative, and interactive circus performance by Kevin O’Keefe, the One-Man-Circus-in-a-Suitcase on Thursday, June 27th at 10:30 am. From Kevin O’Keefe’s suitcase an entire circus emerges: tent, band, lights, ringmaster and more! However, the most important performers in this miniature circus come from the audience. This free program, sponsored by the Friends of the Conant Public Library, will be held at the First Church in Sterling and is open to all ages; no registration is required.
