The Conant Public Library will be offering free weekly yoga classes at the 1835 Town Hall in Sterling. Join us on Tuesday nights beginning November 9th and running through January 11th at 7 pm. Exercise does not have to be stressful to improve your body. This class will help you turn down the head noise, stretch out your stress and bring relaxing energy for your night. This is a Beginner's Hatha yoga class offered by Sharyn Hocurscak. This series of yoga classes will start with mindful centering with breath, then go to poses for gentle stretching, strengthening and toning. The class will always conclude with a relaxing meditation. Each stage will focus on balancing your body, mind and spirit. Please bring your yoga mat and blanket. If you have yoga blocks, straps or other props that will help you, please bring them as well. No registration is required for this program. However, it is a first come first serve basis. Classes will be limited to 19 attendees. Call the library at (978) 422-6409 for more information.
Sterling author E. Raymond Tatten will be reading and signing copies of the newly-released Sawyer's Regret as well as his three other books on Thursday, December 2nd at 6:30 pm at the Conant Public Library. Tatten will be sharing his experiences with writing and self-publishing his work along with discussing his books. Tatten’s newest work, Sawyer's Regret is an historical fiction based on sixteen-year-old Elias Sawyer's capture in Lancaster, MA by Native Americans in 1705. Another recent popular work is a personal narrative, Moving Willie, recounting his nine-year-old life first in the City of Lowell and then unusual experiences living on a remote farm in Central Massachusetts. Despite promises to keep it simple, don't we all get a little stressed out during the time between Turkey Day & New Years? Make it different this year with a little less stress on yourself. This event is co-hosted by the Bigelow Free Public Library in Clinton & the Bolton Public Library. Kick off the holiday season with some hands-on, creative fun! The Conant Public Library in Sterling is excited to offer a Gingerbread House Decorating. Join us at the library on Tuesday, December 14th at 1pm, adults and teens ages 13+ and on Thursday, December 16th at 6 pm, adults and children ages 10+ to decorate your own gingerbread house using a vast selection of frostings, candies and other materials. All materials, including the gingerbread houses, are provided; this program is presented by the Friends of the Conant Public Library. The Conant Public Library will be hosting a Holiday Cookie Swap on Wednesday, December 15th at 6:30pm. Bake seven dozen of your favorite holiday cookies - some to enjoy during the exchange and others to pass out for later! Participants are asked to bring 14 loose cookies to sample during the program and 14 packages of 5 cookies to hand out to others. Registration is required. Please call 978-422-6409 to register, get more details, and to let us know which type of cookie you will bring so we can ensure a wide variety. Bring home a large selection of cookies to enjoy during the holidays!
