Peep Catapults and Nests

Monday, April 1st at 4:30 pm

Kids in grades K-5 are invited to build simple catapults and practice using them as they launch peeps at varying distances. After they have tired out their peeps, participants will build a cozy nest for them to nap in. All supplies will be provided.

Picture Book Club

Wednesday, April 3rd at 4:30 pm

The Picture Book Club will read the classic Wacky Wednesday by Dr. Seuss. Come have fun with friends while we read and discuss the book, a similar book or two, and play some games.  Let’s embrace the wacky side of life!  Books can be checked out at the library (participants do not need to bring their copy to the meeting). Open to children in grades K-2.

You and Me Paint Time

Wednesday, April 10th at 4:30 and 6:30 pm

This special paint time will have grownups and children working on joint masterpieces! Paint along as we create Highland Cow families - children can paint the calves, and their grownups the bulls/cows; 2-5 paintings can be displayed together to create one big picture. These shaggy cows in a spring meadow will be fun to create, are sure to brighten up any room, and will make a lasting memory, too! Ages 5 and up with accompanying adult artists.

Kids No-Bake Kool Aid Pie

Tuesday, April 16th at 11:00 am

Come celebrate school vacation week with bright red Kool Aid pie. Kids ages 8 and up are invited to make their very own Kool Aid Pie. It will make it home for chilling, but will you share it? That part’s up to you! All ingredients are provided. Please bring a large spoon for mixing.

International Snack Bags

Tuesday, April 16th

Kids of all ages are invited to pick up an International Snack Bag. Snack bags include snacks from another country as well as facts and book recommendations about the chosen country. Where will we travel to next? While supplies last.

Air Dry Clay

Wednesday, April 17th from 1:00 to 3:00 pm

Kids of all ages and their caregivers are invited to drop in to make miniature air dry creations. Available while supplies last.

Paint by Sticker

Thursday, April 18th from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm

Kids of all ages are invited to stop by to paint by sticker. Painting by sticker is a fun, no-mess activity that results in a beautiful mosaic. Available while supplies last.

DIY Mini Dry Erase Boards for Kids

Thursday, April 18th at 1:00 pm

As vacation week winds down, kids ages 7 and up are invited to make their own mini dry erase boards. Kids will enjoy personalizing these useful, easy to use dry erase boards. They may even check their cool new boards for helpful reminders throughout the week!

Explorers’ Club: Engineering Eggs-travaganza

Choose Your Own Adventure Book Club

Monday, April 29th at 4:30 pm

Do your kids enjoy book club, but struggle to finish the book on time with all their other commitments? If so, then our new Choose Your Own Adventure book club is for them! Kids in grades 2 to 5 are invited to an interactive book club, no advanced reading required. As we read Deborah Lerme Goodman’s The Magic of the Unicorn aloud, attendees will have multiple opportunities to decide where the story goes. After we read the story we will make our own good-luck talismans.

Homeschool Art and Fun

Tuesday, April 30th at 1:00 pm

Come join other homeschoolers to make fairy houses and gnome homes! Using a multimedia approach, children will fashion their own home for tiny friends. The library will provide all the materials for this open ended activity. For ages 6-16 (parents are encouraged to stay with our youngest children).

Stuffed Animal Sleepover

Wednesday, May 15th at 2:30 pm.

Bring a stuffed animal friend for an exciting library field trip! We will sing some songs, listen to stories, teach our toy friends some dances, and make special books just for them! Toy friends can then stay for a sleepover in the library just for them - they will have a great adventure. You’ll hear all about it when you pick them up the next day! Ages 3 and up. Children under 6 must register with a caregiver.

Taylor Swift Celebration

Explorers’ Club: The Buzz about Bees

Wednesday, May 29th at 4:30 pm

Come explore the science of bees, the often misunderstood creatures that play such an important role in our world. We’ll learn all about pollination and try to model how it happens. But bees don’t just work on our flowers and farms - they make products we use! We will use beeswax to make our own lip balm to take home! For children in grades 1-5.

The Bubble Man

The library hosts Mike the Bubble Man who’ll share his one-of-a-kind extravaganza featuring the magical world of bubbles. There will be magic, music, and bubbles like you’ve never seen before. This entertaining show at the First Church in Sterling will combine magic, comedy, and science and is fun for all ages. Summer Reading is here and it’s time to celebrate! After the show, come on over to sign up for our summer program, and check out our selection of books, toys, instruments, and other items to make your summer bubble over with fun. Don’t miss this event - it definitely won’t burst your bubble! Sponsored by the Friends of the Conant Public Library.
