Bulletin Board Policy

Bulletin board and display areas will be available for the posting of non-profit events and announcements as space permits.  No solicitations for profit, request for votes, or petitions will be posted.  Postings intended primarily as advertising to promote financial gain will not be allowed.

Advertisements for library programs and announcements will take priority above all other materials.  Town of Sterling announcements will then be given priority followed by town organizations. Other events may be posted if relating to cultural or educational events in the area.  Size should be no larger than 8 ½ x 11” because of space limitations.

All exhibit spaces within the library are open to adults and children of all ages; and therefore, exhibits should be appropriate in scale, material, form and content for every patron.  The library does not accept exhibits of a purely commercial nature, nor will materials available for purchase be displayed.  The library reserves the right to remove any item from a display on the above grounds or if the exhibition is a possible safety hazard, is too large, or interferes with other activities in the library.

The posting of notices within the library does not constitute an endorsement of the organization’s policies and viewpoints.  Once posted, all bulletin board notices become property of the library and will be removed and disposed of at the discretion of the library director.  Materials that would put the library in violation of Massachusetts General Laws will not be displayed.
